Axe creatures is the encompassing term given to several axe-wielding creatures that appear throughout the House of the Dead franchise. First released by financier Caleb Goldman onto the streets of an unnamed European city alongside several other creatures, these beings have since been engineered to combat AMS forces in many bioterror-related incidents.
The axe-creatures come in several iterations with the series: Johnny (ジョニー, Jonī ) and Cecil (セシル, Seshiru ) from The House of the Dead 2, Jack (ジャック, Jakku ) from The House of the Dead III, and Jimmy (ジミー, Jimī ) from The House of the Dead 4. While having the same physiology and weapon of choice, each variant displays different methods of attack.
Appearance[]
The axe-creature’s appearance remains similar in The House of the Dead 2 and The House of the Dead III. These creatures have blue skin and long, shoulder-length blonde hair. They always wear blood-covered flannel shirts and dirty, torn denim jeans. In the second game, they wear brown loafers, while throughout the rest of the series they are depicted as barefoot.
In The House of the Dead 4, Jimmy is depicted as pale-skinned and gaunt, with stringy blonde hair and dressed completely in black.

The House of the Dead 2[]
The axe creatures first appear in the second game under the moniker Johnny. They almost always appear in hordes and will approach the player(s) one-by-one to attack with their dual-wielding axes. They can also stand on high places and launch their axes as projectiles. When he loses his axes, he will behave like David, biting or swiping. A secondary variant in different clothing, Cecil, also appears. Unlike Johnny, Cecil will usually throw his axes from any distance. When Cecil loses his axes, he will attack by biting. Johnny appears in Chapters 1, 2, and 3, while Cecil appears in chapters 2 and 3.
When AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart successfully infiltrate Caleb Goldman's headquarters, Johnny, along with several other creatures, can be seen in the process of incubation.
The House of the Dead III[]
The axe creatures, now called Jack, only appear within the EFI Research Facility specifically in the Information Systems Department. Their only method of attack is running in hordes and slashing one at a time with their axes.
The House of the Dead 4[]
Under the guise of Jimmy, the axe creatures make appearances in Chapters 3 and 4.
As with the previous games, Jimmy can often be seen using axes. When initiating melee combat, they will cover their face with their axes, protecting them from headshots until they wind up an attack. Shooting them in the body or legs will cause them to flinch and loosen their grip, allowing for headshots. When they get up to the player(s), Jimmy will either attack with a quick horizontal swipe, or a slower slash with his right axe that provides slight protection during the wind-up.
Jimmy may also initiate ranged combat in certain scenarios. As with melee, he may either throw one axe at a time or throw both at once. Depending on the situation, Jimmy will either approach the player(s) or will leave the map. Without his weapons, Jimmy essentially acts like other medium humanoid creatures — swiping at players and potentially knocking them down onto the floor.
