The Wiki of the Dead

Type C-2, named Bentley (ベントレー, Bentorē?), is an obese humanoid creature. He is an enemy in The House of the Dead, its 2022 remake, the mobile game The House of the Dead: Nightmare, and House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn.

Developed by Dr. Curien and Thornheart to carry out humanity-threatening worldwide incidents, Bentley is characterized by his massive strength and endurance. He originally belonged to a C-type group of other obese creatures: Samson (サムソン, Samuson?) and Burner (バーナー, Bānā?). Both inherit Bentley's traits, but utilize different weapons.

Bentley is the predecessor to several obese creatures in the House of the Dead series, including Bob from The House of the Dead 2 and Charles from The House of the Dead III and 4.

History[]

1998 Curien Mansion incident[]

Main article: The House of the Dead (1996 video game)

Bently and the two other C-type creatures were originally developed by the late genetic engineer Dr. Curien, then research director of the DBR Corporation. Having gone insane due to various reasons, Curien released the creatures in his mansion to murder his own research team. AMS agents Thomas Rogan and G killed the creatures and ultimately foiled Curien's plan.[1]

2006[]

Years after Curien's death, his associate Thornheart reproduced Bently and several other of the scientist's creatures as part of a plan named "Noah's Ark". Thornheart, then manager of the Scarecrow Manor, released the creatures upon guests of a dinner party. The threat was dispatched by AMS agents Kate Green and Ryan Taylor.[2]

Appearance[]

Bentley is a shirtless, heavyset creature. In The House of the Dead, he wears blue jeans. His skin is pale, with parts of his belly, right bicep, and the left side of his face covered in green burn-like markings. His right eye is pale white, but his left is missing. Bentley is also completely bald.

In House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn, Bentley's appearance has changed. He now sports a grayed, filthy jacket with matching pants and black loafers. The burns across his body are covered entirely by his attire.

On the PC port of The House of the Dead, the markings on Bentley's body are pink in color.

In the remake, he has both eyes and his head is in a half-crooked position now. The burns on his body are now red. His pants are brown and he wears two black shoes. His pants are a little dirty and dusty. His right eye is a little pale, but still visible. And his left eye is completely pale.

Gameplay[]

The House of the Dead[]

Bentley is one of the strongest creatures encountered; he can survive even if his belly is blasted open (in The House of the Dead). From a distance, he tends to throw barrels or oil drums at the player. Otherwise, he will rush his target in an attempt to shoulder tackle them.

He shares a common weak point with all other humanoid creatures: his head. His throwable objects can also be destroyed before they damage the player.

The House of the Dead: Remake[]

Bentley will randomly choose between two attacks: punching the player with his right hand, or stomping the player with his left shoulder. If his right arm is shot off, he will only do the shoulder attack.

Trivia[]

DebuModel

Bentley's unused "debu" model.

  • In the original House of the Dead, there is an unused variant of Bentley with the filename "debu". This version has different-colored pants, lacerations on his body, missing portions of his scalp and mouth, and no missing eye.
