The Curien Mansion is a prime location in "The House of the Dead" series, as it is where the first game takes place, originally owned by Dr. Roy Curien.
According to the Sega Saturn game manual, the mansion was first built in medieval times, though parts of the house have obviously been "upgraded" with modern technology (such as the laboratories, automatic doors and chutes, etc.) The manual also states that this is where Dr. Curien lived with his son Daniel.
