The Dark Emperor was one of the bosses of Sega Golden Gun. The Dark Emperor is a giant stone golem from hell that uses the power of the vermillion bird. He is the final boss of the game and is fought at the SEGA Tower.

- Like the rest of Golden Gun's bosses. His appearance is inspired by one of the Four Auspicious Beasts from Chinese mythology and constellations.
- In his case, he uses the powers and was 'summoned' from the Vermillion Bird. It represents the direction of south, the season of summer, and wuxing of fire.
