(Sega AM1's universe)
...And just hand one a chainsaw and watch it go - it's like a kid with a new toy on Christmas morning! It makes this old man's heart swell to think that I could bring that kind of joy into the world.
The House of the Dead Sega Saturn manual.
Type C-1, named Samson (サムソン, Samuson ), is an obese humanoid creature who wields a chainsaw. He is an enemy in The House of the Dead, its 2022 remake, and House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn.
Produced by genetic engineer Dr. Curien and his associate Thornheart, Samson was used to help orchestrate humanity-threatening incidents worldwide. He is a strong adversary and can deflect gunfire with his chainsaw.
Samson is related to the C-type creatures Bentley (ベントレー, Bentorē ) and Burner (バーナー, Bānā ), as well as a third variant named Samson Jr. (サムソン・ジュニア, Samuson junia ). Burner and Samson Jr. behave identical to Samson.
History[]
1998 Curien Mansion incident[]
- Main article: The House of the Dead (1996 video game)
Samson and the three other D-type creatures were originally developed by the late genetic engineer Dr. Curien, then research director of the DBR Corporation. Having gone insane due to various reasons, Curien released the creatures in his mansion to murder his own research team. AMS agents Thomas Rogan and G killed the creatures and ultimately foiled Curien's plan.[1]
2006[]
- Main article: House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn
Years after Curien's death, his associate Thornheart reproduced Samson and several other of the scientist's creatures as part of a plan named "Noah's Ark". Thornheart, the owner of Scarecrow Manor, released the creatures upon guests of a dinner party. The threat was dispatched by AMS agents Kate Green and Ryan Taylor.[2]
Appearance[]
Samson is an obese humanoid who wears overalls and carries a chainsaw. He wears black polished shoes. In the first game he is shown as balding, shirtless, and bearded whereas in House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn, he wears a hunting cap, an overgrown flannel shirt, and is clean-shaven.
Gameplay[]
The House of the Dead[]
In The House of the Dead, his right arm can be blasted off; without his chainsaw, he will attempt to shoulder tackle the player. He dies faster with two headshots.
The House of the Dead: Remake[]
He will use his chainsaw to attack the player, which will deal a full torch of damage on normal and easy modes. If either of his arms are shoot off, he'll lose the chainsaw and proceed to shoulder hit the player. He normally dies after having his head completely removed, but not always.
House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn[]
In contrast, he cannot be dismembered in House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn. His health pool is large to where he can withstand over two headshots before dying.
Related creatures[]
Since Samson's creation, other similar creatures have been produced.
