(Sega AM1's universe)
Type D-3, named Harris (ハリス, Harisu ), is a creature appearing in The House of the Dead and its 2022 remake. Appearing in the third and fourth stages, he is a skinless creature sporting a vest and wielding a meteor hammer.
Appearance[]
Harris has a thick and black horseshoe mustache, long black hair and blank eyes. Being skinless, his muscles are exposed. He resembles another creature, Gilmore. Harris' forehead musculature is different from Gilmore's. He wears a dark gray nylon vest, dark grey jeans pants and black shoes. He uses as a weapon, a meteor hammer.
In the remake, his muscle tissues are dry and rotten. Now he wears dark gray latex pants that are tattered. He now has a thick, wide beard and a ponytail behind his long hair. His vest is now of latex and with a new design. His meteor hammer is now black with silver circles. His eyes are pale, yet still visible. Both of his arms have voluminous white muscle fibers of different shapes and sizes. His nose and cheeks are deformed. And now, his shoulders have two large, bulky pointy white fibers.
Gameplay[]
Harris swings his ball and chain in a circular motion, attacking players seconds later. The ball is invulnerable to gunfire in the original game, but may be deflected in the remake. He stands in place to attack, only advancing toward players while attacking at the end of the final stage. Two headshots will kill him.
Harris's right arm can be shot to remove his weapon, after which he will advance toward the player for a punch attack, like other D-Type creatures. The only exception to this is the beginning of stage 3, in which two Harris creatures are unable to move when disarmed; both are behind a security desk. In the remake, he simply shoulder-tackles the players if the right arm is shot off.
Development[]
The developers said that Harris was the most difficult non-boss enemy in The House of the Dead to create, due to his chains.[1]
Trivia[]
- In The House of the Dead: Remake, Harris's icon in the creatures gallery is Harris's beta model. it is unknown how Harris would attack the player with the big iron ball. Because, in this version he doesn't have a chain, that is, he only holds the big iron ball with both hands.
- In the original game, Harris's vest is an open vest. But in the remake, his vest is of faded buttons and that explains why Harris' vest is small.
