The Wiki of the Dead

Justice (Type 0053/Tarot No.XI) aka Iustitia is the first boss of The House of the Dead 4. It appears near the end of Chapter 1 when it suddenly grabs James Taylor and Kate Green. It chases James and Kate through the sewers until it is defeated. It also later appears during Chapter 1 of The House of the Dead 4: Special battling G and Kate. It is large and has four arms. Its weak point is shown to be its mouth, and throwing a grenade near the mouth will make Justice swallow it (thus the grenade explodes inside it) and will cancel its attack meter.

Shooting its legs will also cause minimal damage, but is almost useless. However, some players have been known to use this to rack up accuracy points during the first-type attack phase. Trying this on the second type of attack would cause certain damage to the player(s).

Justice has two methods of attack. The first method is to chase the player(s) through the sewers with its arms open to grab them (leading to a Shake phase). As long as its cancel bar is not depleted fully, it will continue this up to four times. For the fifth time, it would repeat the process, but this time the player would not be able to shake it off and would receive damage. As previously stated, throwing a grenade near Justice would cause it to swallow it and automatically cancel this attack phase.

For the second method of attack, Justice will charge towards the player(s) with its arm covering its face. After taking a number of steps, it will then drop down and kick the player(s) as it falls. Grenades are ineffective against it in this attack phase and the only way to cancel this attack is to shoot its mouth, depleting its cancel meter before it completes its attack.

Strategy

ROUND 1 [WEAK POINT THE TONGUE] [NO DAMAGE ARMS]

Justice pursues you, his face very vulnerable to bullets. Repeatedly shoot his mouth and he'll be stunned. Don't worry if he reaches you, he'll just grab you with his huge hand. Break free by shaking your gun or you will suffer damage. Bullets inflict minute damage until you break free and stand up once again.

ROUND 2

Justice hides behind the walls on your side (like Death in HOTD3). Be ready to shake your gun. Once Justice grabs you through the wall, shake your gun vigorously to avoid being squeezed. Prepare your grenades, you'll need them...

ROUND 3

This is the most annoying part: Justice defends his face with both hands to avoid extensive damage as he approaches you. Since his hands are immune to damage, the cancel bar depletes very slowly. If he comes near enough, he'll jump and thrash you with his feet. Justice will not pursue you if you shoot his mouth.

WITH GRENADES (EASY): Pay attention to the camera motion. When the screen focuses on Justice again, CHUCK A GRENADE once a crosshair appears on his mouth. A correctly-timed grenade staggers him and destroys his entire gauge for this round. Timing and practice is crucial. Know when Justice will defend his face or not, and use a grenade if he shields his face the moment the screen is on him. The farthest distance blast will heavily damage Justice.

WITHOUT GRENADES (HARD): With no grenades, you're in real trouble. Be sure to have about 3 lives. Keep shooting Justice's mouth. Move your fire left and right as he strides forward. With accuracy and luck, you can stop him in time. Counting his steps will be useful: It takes Justice SIX steps before hitting your face and tryto deplete most of its cancel bar or you will get damaged or you have to shake.Good Luck!

ROUND 4.

Justice pursues you, his face very vulnerable to bullets. Pound his mouth with lead and he'll be stunned. Don't worry if he reaches you, he'll just grab you with his huge hand. Break free by gun-shaking or suffer the fate of being placed onto his disgusting tongue and be licked. Bullets inflict minute damage until you break free and stand up once again. He has a slightly stronger grip this time if he reaches you.

ROUND 4.2 This is the most annoying part: Justice defends his face with both hands to avoid extensive damage as he approaches you. Since his hands are immune to damage, the cancel bar depletes very slowly. If he comes near enough, he'll jump and thrash you will his feet. He steps forward slightly quicker, so be fast also.

  • The justice dies*.

JAMES: It all happened exactly 3 years ago. The battle has started again.

KATE: You're paying for my dry cleaning once we're out of here.

You will get either A,B,C,D,E depends on how you did on the chapter

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

  • BOSS' MAIN POINT OF VULNERABILITY / HOW TO "OWN" JUSTICE:

Justice's tongue is exposed most of the time. You can shoot it if he simply runs towards you. When he defends his face, shoot at his tongue and once a gap appears between his fingers, a crosshair appears, which gives you a chance to chuck a grenade RIGHT INTO HIS MOUTH. If done correctly, he will sit back and witness himself eat a huge explosion, blowing off THE ENTIRE CANCEL GAUGE for that round. NEVER use a grenade if Justice simply runs to grab you.

  • BOSS' HIGH ACCURACY TRICK:

When Justice runs to grab you, shoot his LEFT THIGH all the time. Though you will inflict little damage, you can knock off 20 to 25% of his cancel bar for the round. When he grabs you, just shake your SMG to quickly break free. However, note that every time Justice grabs you, the bar will fill more slowly when you shake your gun. Doing this cat-and-mouse game for four times is enough. If Justice catches you for the 5th or 6th time, the success bar is almost impossible to fill up no matter how hard you shake your gun. If you do this trick each time Justice runs to catch you, your accuracy can be boosted up by about 5 to 10%.

Trivia

  • It is currently unknown whether the Justice faced in 4: Special is the same as the one in 4. However, considering the original is seen melting into black goo, it seems unlikely.
  • Justice, like Temperance and Strength, shares its name with a Cardinal Virtue(or Auditio).
  • Justice seems to bear a red tatoo on its left shoulder. Given that Temperance has tatoos on him, it could be implied that Justice and Temperance are the leaders of some zombie groups.
  • His name is English for "Iustitia," making it the only boss in the game without a tarot card name, a diffrent name, and in the series. (Excluding wheel of fate's changed name from Wheel of Fortune.)
  • He is on the front cover, right in your face.
