Like maggots? We've got maggots!
The House of the Dead Sega Saturn manual.
Type G-1, named "Murrer" (つぶやき, Tsubuyaki ), is a sharp-toothed creature that resembles a maggot or worm. It is a recurring enemy throughout the main House of the Dead series.
Since the 1998 Curien Mansion incident, Murrers have been produced by several individuals. Their appearance has varied over time, but their behavior -- infesting areas in groups, leaping to bite their prey -- has not changed.
Appearance
Murrers are small, maggot-like creatures who invest areas in small groups. In The House of the Dead, they are seen feasting on corpses. While Murrers are mostly silent, those encountered in House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn screech when leaping at their targets.
Gameplay
Murrers wriggle around on the ground before leaping at their prey for a bite. They are among the weakest enemies in the series, dying when shot once, but make up for it by appearing in large groups.
History
The House of the Dead
Murrer first appears in the Curien Mansion in the first House of the Dead game, originally with the name "Maggot". It could be found in groups squirming around fallen zombie corpses or other areas.
The House of the Dead 2
Murrer appears again, having been recreated in numbers by Caleb Goldman to raid a large unnamed city, this time with the official name being Murrer. It slithers in large groups from small openings (like vents) or simply from the ground. It comes in two colors: the regular brown and green.
The House of the Dead III
In this game, Murrer returns.
The House of the Dead 4
These leech-like creatures often infest areas in hordes. They attack by leaping at their prey and gnash at them with sharp fangs. They are mostly found in level 2.
House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn
Murrers reappear in various parts of Scarecrow Manor. While their behavior remains the same, they notably screech when leaping at their prey.
