Thomas Rogan, (codenamed "Eager Eagle") is an AMS agent and a recurring character throughout the House of the Dead series. He is one of the protagonists of The House of the Dead, makes a cameo appearance in The House of the Dead 2, and is briefly playable in the prologue of The House of the Dead III.

Biography

The House of the Dead

A 31-year old described as "hot-headed" and "trigger-happy", Rogan held the "Top Agent" rank of the AMS (it is unknown if this rank is exclusive to one person or if other possess it).

In 1998, the AMS investigated the research of Dr. Roy Curien, a geneticist obsessed with curing his terminally-ill son. Rogan's fiancée, Sophie Richards, was among several researchers hired by the DBR Corporation to aid Curien's "Bio-Reactor" project; many left due to its inhumane nature. Having gone mad, Curien unleashed his biologically-engineered creations upon the DBR research team on December 18th, 1998.

Rogan and his partner "G" arrived at Curien's mansion following an urgent phone call from Sophie. They found her feigning death outside, only for The Hangedman -- a flying bat-like creature -- to capture her and bring her back to the mansion. Rogan and G later reunited with Sophie, but the armored Chariot ambushed and presumably killed her.

The agents defeated the Hangedman, discovering a secret laboratory. They encountered Curien, who escaped and sent the spider-like Hermit after them. In a second confrontation, Curien awakened his "masterpiece", The Magician. However, the creature betrayed and killed Curien. The AMS agents managed to destroy the Magician; Rogan bid farewell to Curien, and mourned the supposed demise of Sophie.

While Sophie's survival depends on the player's overall performance in the game, canonically she survived, married Rogan, and gave birth to their daughter Lisa Rogan in 2000.

The House of the Dead 2

The same year as Lisa's birth, a second infestation in Venice, Italy was organized by Curien's financier, Caleb Goldman. Rogan's level of involvement with the case is unknown

In the good ending, Rogan appears at the entrance of Goldman's headquarters. He assures agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart that partners Amy Crystal and Harry Harris are safe. Rogan ends by saying "On we go, to our next battle."

The House of the Dead III

In 2019, 16 years after a 2003 outbreak posthumously organized by Goldman, humanity collapsed and AMS ceased to exist. Rogan, now 52 years old and retired, led a team of military commandos into the EFI Research Facility to discover the source of civilization's downfall. A hulking undead creature ambushed them, injuring Rogan and killing his comrade Dan Taylor. Regaining consciousness, Rogan was approached by a mysterious figure.

Two weeks later, 19-year-old Lisa acted on a promise to her mother to find Rogan, fighting inside the building alongside G. When they reunited, Rogan revealed that Curien's son, Daniel, had rescued him. It was also discovered that Curien's body, having undergone a 19-year resurrection process, was to transform into The Wheel of Fate. While G stayed behind to care for Rogan's injuries, Lisa and Daniel destroyed the Wheel of Fate and saved humanity.

As they left the facility, Rogan expressed his gratitude for G's help. When asked whether this mission would change anything, Rogan -- while unsure -- optimistically claimed that they had "done [their] part", and that the future was left to people like Lisa and Daniel.

Personality

Throughout the series, Rogan is generally portrayed as brave and persistent. However, in The House of the Dead III, Lisa mentions that he always prioritized work over family, telling her to "believe in [herself], no matter what happens", despite her never grasping what this really meant. While this strained their relationship, Rogan is overjoyed upon reuniting with Lisa, who finally understands his advice. He believed in his daughter enough to let her confront the Wheel of Fate on his behalf.

Appearance

Thomas has a short brown hair and brown eyes.

In the first House of the Dead, he is depicted wearing a long light brown detective-like coat with a pale brown formal suit jacket with a white long sleeved button shirt underneath and a black neck tie on the collar, pale brown pants and brown shoes. His appearance is depicted in both arcade and console cover of the game and its sequel House of the Dead 2.

In the console version, Thomas wears a brown formal suit jacket as a contrast of his appearance in the arcade wearing a detective coat, his pants are gray and retains his brown shoes from his arcade version.

In the end of House of the Dead 2 and as part of James Taylor's costume, Thomas retains his arcade appearance of the first House of the Dead only his formal suit becomes yellow and his neck tie remains black.

In House of the Dead III, Thomas becomes older and his hair becomes light brown.

When he infiltrates at the EFI Research Facility along with Dan Taylor and being rescued by Daniel Curien followed by G and his daughter Lisa Rogan to find him. He wears an outfit of a civilian nature, he wears a reddish brown jersey jacket with a white short sleeve undershirt, olive green cargo pants and brown combat boots.
